Alec Baldwin came back as President Trump in the summer edition of ‘Weekend Update’ on Thursday to conduct Trump’s off-the-rails Phoenix rally earlier this week.
Walking on stage still wearing his eclipse watching sunglasses, Baldwin announced Trump’s newest ‘discovery’ — “Now, a lot of people don’t know this, but you can damage your eyes when looking at an eclipse. No one predicted this. They couldn’t have. I figured it out by myself.”
“People ask me why are you doing a rally only 8 months in, folks, it’s never too early to campaign. Mike Pence is already doing it,” Baldwin explains to the audience before launching into the Charlottesville tragedy in order to “set the record straight.”
“As we all know there was a tragic victim that came out of Charlottesville: me! Folks, the media has treated me so unfairly by reporting my entire remarks, even the bad ones,” he started.
“I wanted to set the record straight about exactly what I said and I have the transcript right here,” he said as he pulled out his written remarks from his pocket. “I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there … Sorry, sorry … here we go: you had a group on one side that is very bad, Neo Nazis, and you had a group on the other side, and then I did not say another word after that — nothing else was said. Folks we need to stick together as people,” he continued as the lone African American audience member behind him holds up a sign which read “Blacks for Whites.”
Baldwin’s Trump then continued through all of the President’s greatest hits from the border wall, to Afghanistan, to the government shutdown that Trump threatened. He also addressed Sheriff Joe Arpaio who is facing jail time after being held in criminal contempt of court.
