Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton fired off a stinging twitterstorm on Friday in response to the Donald Trump’s bizarre overnight twitterstorm attacking former Miss Universe Alicia Machado.

Ms. Machado was thrust into the presidential race in one of the most powerful moments in the presidential debate on Monday. As the debate was winding down to its conclusion, Donald Trump walked into a trap which Mrs. Clinton had clearly set for him.

As Trump gave his response to a question regarding his intention behind comments that he has made claiming that Clinton does not have “the look” of a president. Trump tried to pivot by stating that he was referring to Clinton’s stamina. Either way, Trump’s critics, among other things, claim that the statement is sexist.

Clinton was ready when it was her turn to speak. She slammed Trump on his treatment of women mentioning that he had referred to women as “pigs, slobs, and dogs.” She followed that up by referring to a former beauty queen that Donald Trump had called “Miss Piggy” and “Miss Housekeeping” — referring to the fact that she is Latina — because she had allegedly gained substantial weight after winning the Miss Universe contest the very first year that Trump had purchased the pageant.

And as Trump was trying to interrupt Clinton by saying “Where did you find that?” Mrs. Clinton thundered “Donald, she has a name. It’s Alicia Machado. And she has become a U.S. Citizen. And you can bet she is going to vote this November.”

The incident has completely derailed Donald Trump, so much so, that the nominee has been attacking about Ms. Machado on a daily basis ever since. On Friday, Trump went on a bizarre overnight rant on Twitter focusing on Ms. Machado. Later in the morning, Hillary Clinton responded with a stinging twitterstorm of her own with one stark difference: Clinton related Trump’s statements to his fitness for the presidency.

She began with saying that Trump’s rant was “unhinged, even for Trump.”

She followed that up with “What kind of man stays up all night to smear a woman with lies and conspiracy theories?”

And she followed that up by defending Machado and by slamming Trump again “When something gets under Donald’s thin skin, he lashes out and can’t let go. This is dangerous for a president.”

Clinton continued with a few more stinging rebukes chastising Trump and pointing out that his behavior is disqualifying.

For now, Trump shows no signs of slowing down. He has doubled and tripled down on his comments and in fact, has instructed his surrogates to attack Clinton by bring up her husband’s infidelities, including the infamous Monica Lewinsky saga.

By all accounts, including concessions of his own campaign manager, this is a mistake for Trump.
