On Friday, Donald Trump exploited the death of Dwayne Wade’s cousin, Nykea Aldridge, in Chicago to pander for the Black vote. Don Cheadle wasn’t having any of it.

Known for films such as Crash and Hotel Rwanda, Academy Award winner Don Cheadle is a highly respected figure. However, it seems that even he couldn’t contain himself after Donald Trump’s latest blunder.

Though Trump’s attempt to appeal to Black voters has been no secret, it seems that his attempts have been increasingly more offensive. Many have been critical of the way that he has painted life in the United States for Black Americans as some odd white supremacist fantasy.

Mr. Trump’s latest attempt is arguably even more offensive, as he used the shooting death of Nykea Aldridge in Chicago to further his own agenda.

Don Cheadle took to Twitter to respond directly.

Cheadle’s seemingly off-the-cuff response may not be the most effective way to combat Trump’s bigotry, though these types of responses are quickly becoming the norm.

As Slate reports,

“While the utility of talking to Trump supporters on Twitter is, let’s say, questionable, Cheadle’s tweets are an example of the increasingly frank descriptions Donald Trump is inspiring. Last Sunday, Cher called him “a fucking idiot” at a Clinton campaign event; in June, Senator Elizabeth Warren called him a “thin-skinned racist bully.” Nevertheless, as Trump assured his mostly-white audience, he anticipates winning 95 percent of the black vote in his 2020 re-election bid, which, given the polls, will presumably take place in a Good Bye, Lenin!-style Oval Office mock-up built in the basement of Trump Tower by his children.”
