During his typical early morning tweet on Easter Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump took the time to defend himself after many have called him out for walking back on his China stance.

Trump previously called the country a currency manipulator.

Prior to his early morning tweet, the president had been quiet on social media for two days while he was at his Mar-a-Lago resort. However, it seems, as soon as he was done, he quickly returned to social media.

“Why would I call China a currency manipulator when they are working with us on the North Korean problem? We will see what happens!” Trump tweeted.

In an interview with Reuters in February, the president explained that he thinks that China is a “grand champion” of adjusting their currency.

“Well they, I think they’re grand champions at manipulation of currency. So I haven’t held back,” Trump said before adding, “We’ll see what happens.”

Just five short minutes after Trump tweeted about China, he tweeted to tell his followers “Happy Easter.”
