Conservative commentator Glenn Beck, who has spoken out a number of times about the prospects of a Trump presidency, commented about Steve Bannon, his choice for top adviser in the White House.
Beck called Bannon a “nightmare” who has ties to the white nationalist movement. “You know, if people really want to in the press would like to call Donald Trump a racist, you might want to stop on that one and spend a little time on Bannon,” Beck said on his radio show.
“Bannon has a clear tie to white nationalists — clear tie,” Beck said. “He’s built Breitbart as a platform for the Alt-Right. He’s on record saying that. He’s on record defining the Alt-Right. He knows what it is. He’s a guy that wants to tear this system down and wants to replace it with a new system.”
“He’s a nightmare. And he’s the chief adviser to the president of the United States,” said Beck who also added that Bannon’s role in the Trump administration should be cause for great alarm and fear about what is to come for the U.S.
“He’s frightening — no, no, no, he is a terrifying man, terrifying man … It speaks volumes.”
On Sunday, Trump announced that Bannon would serve as chief strategist and senior counsel serving alongside — and as equal partners with — Reince Priebus, who is giving up his post as chair of the Republican National Committee to serve as Trump’s chief of staff.
In a statement, Trump said “Steve and Reince are highly qualified leaders who worked well together on our campaign and led us to a historic victory. Now, I will have them both with me in the White House as we work to make America great again.”
