Top aide to President-elect Donald Trump Kellyanne Conway will be the keynote speaker at the annual anti-abortion March for Life event in Washington, D.C.
In a statement, March for Life President Jeanne Mancini said,
“We are thrilled to have Kellyanne Conway speak at this year’s March for Life. As the first female to run a successful presidential campaign and as a steadfast advocate for life and family issues, Kellyanne beautifully embodies the 2017 March for Life’s theme, ‘The Power of One.’”
Conway served as Mr. Trump’s final campaign manager and will serve as a “counselor to the president” when the now President-elect takes the White House.
The annual event, which is one of the largest anti-abortion protests in the country, brings thousands from across the country every year. This year, it will take place on January 27th and stretch from the National Mall to the Supreme Court.
Conway’s participation in the event is just the latest symptom of what many anticipate will be several issues that the Trump administration will have with reproductive rights. This is evidenced by many of Mr. Trump’s statements and actions, including the fact that the President-elect has vowed to appoint justices to the Supreme Court that are pro-life.
Trump has also promised to sign legislation that would defund Planned Parenthood, a long time target of Republicans because the organization is an abortion provider.
