Mike Pence to Chris Wallace: 'I was not offended at the cast of Hamilton' - CitizenSlant

Appearing on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace, Vice President-elect Mike Pence spoke commented about the message that the cast of the Broadway musical ‘Hamilton’ delivered to him when he went to the show on Friday night.

Pence exhibited a far different tone than his boss, President-elect Donald Trump who tweeted on the subject. He began with acknowledging that upon his arrival he heard cheers and boos, and that he turned to his kids and said “That’s what freedom sounds like.”

Wallace played the message that the cast of the show had prepared for him, which one cast member, Brandon Victor Dixon, read to him immediately after the show ended as the Vice President-elect was leaving the auditorium:

“We have a message for you, sir. We hope that you will hear us out.

Vice President-elect Pence, we welcome you, and we truly thank you for joining us here at “Hamilton American Musical,” we really do.

We, sir, we are the diverse America, who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights.

But we truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us. All of us.

Again, we truly thank you for [inaudible] this wonderful American story told by a diverse group of men, women, of different colors, creeds and orientations.”

The Indiana Governor said that Hamilton is an incredible production, encouraging viewers to see it, and that he was not offended by what was said, and that he will leave it to others to decide “whether that was the appropriate venue to say it.” He then moved on to the basic point of the message. He acknowledged that those who did not vote for Donald Trump may be very disappointed and emotional right now, but that Trump, as he has said, is truly desirous of being the president for all Americans whether or not they voted for him.

While Pence focused on unity and was sure to compliment the show itself, Trump again exhibited his legendary thin skin and immediate rush to anger and acting on it without thinking which so concern Americans:
