Sanders responded by saying that Clinton’s comments about his supporters were “absolutely correct.”
Although many, mostly Donald Trump supporters, have actively pushed the ‘Basement Dwellers’ narrative. Truth be told, the Clinton never actually called Sanders supporters ‘Basement Dwellers.’ Rather, she explained that many were essentially young people who were unable to secure adequate jobs and had to move back in with their parents.
In the audio that was leaked, Clinton can be heard saying,
“They’re children of the great recession. And they are living in their parents’ basement; they feel that they got their education and the jobs that are available to them are not at all what they envisioned for themselves, and they don’t see much of a future.”
In his appearance on Sunday, Sanders told host George Stephanopoulos,
“What she was saying there was absolutely correct, and that is you have millions of young people, many of whom took out loans in order to go to college, hoping to go out and get decent-paying jobs and they are unable to do that. And yes, they do want a political revolution. They want to transform this society.”
