On Saturday evening, former Florida Congressman and MSNBC host Joe Scarborough shared his views on whether Donald Trump should nominate Rudy Giuliani as his Secretary of State.

The post has garnered more attention than other Cabinet posts with a very public internal strife among the Trump transition team, and potential candidates who are vastly different landing on extremes of the political spectrum — albeit limited to the Republican political spectrum — and degrees of experience.

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been on the short list with a number of Trump’s closest advisors openly advocating for his nomination. Reportedly, the former mayor, himself, has also been very aggressively lobbying Trump for the job.

In a series of tweets, Scarborough said that Giuliani “would be a disastrous pick” for the position, adding that he is “neither qualified nor capable of effectively holding the position.”

The TV host is not strictly anti-Giuliani, saying that he believes the close Trump confidante could serve as Homeland Security Secretary, though outside of hardliners, most Republicans agree that Giuliani is not qualified to serve on any Cabinet position.

Scarborough added that the former mayor would “overshadow any selections Donald Trump has made” as his Cabinet picks.

As recently as this past week, Trump transition team spokesperson Jason Miller confirmed that Giuliani is one of the four candidates being considered for the job, a field which includes former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, who has been very publicly criticized by Trump’s close advisers including senior adviser Kellyanne Conway.

Other potential candidates who are believed to be still in the running for Secretary of State are retired General David Petraeus, who is still on probation from his criminal conviction for divulging classified materials to his biographer and mistress, and Tennessee Republican Senator Bob Corker, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
