The Simpsons managed to accurately predict Donald Trump’s presidential victory in an episode titled “Bart to the Future” in 2000. In response, they have released a teaser video.

“Bart to the Future,” which was produced over 16 years ago, looked at Bart Simpson’s potential future. In the episode, Bart was shown to be a failing musician and Lisa Simpson was shown to be the first female president — coming into office just after a Donald Trump presidency.
The episode was reportedly written as a sort of “warning to America.” According to show writer Dan Greaney in March,
“[the episode] was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane.”
Greaney went on to explain,

“The important thing is that Lisa comes into the presidency when America is on the ropes, and that is the condition left by the Trump presidency… What we needed was for Lisa to have problems that were beyond her fixing, that everything went as bad as it possibly could, and that’s why we had Trump be president before her.”

In the “Bart to the Future,” Lisa Simpson — depicted as the first straight female president — can be seen speaking to a staff member about the current state of the country.
“We’re broke,” the member of her staff says.
“The whole country is broke!?” says President Lisa Simpson.

“Being right sucks,” Bart writes on the board in the opening — clearly indicating that the show is unhappy with their prediction.
