Donald Trump Jr. compared Syrian refugees to poisoned Skittles in a tweet. Skittles responded in the best way.

The Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Skittles released a statement in response to Trump’s comments:
Skittles are candy. Refugees are people. We don’t feel it’s an appropriate analogy. We will respectfully refrain from further commentary as anything we say could be misinterpreted as marketing.

In effect, Skittles responded in a more presidential way than Trump’s father has during his entire presidential campaign. Donald Trump Jr. was the subject of severe scrutiny following his tweet and rightfully so. Even Skittles recognized the need to denounce the comment publicly, saying that “Skittles are candy. Refugees are people.” Without sugar coating, Young goes on to say “We don’t feel it’s an appropriate analogy.”
In fact, Young makes it clear that Skittles is doing everything they can to make sure they aren’t associated with the comment — going as far as to refrain from commenting at all in the off chance that commentary “could be misinterpreted as marketing.”
