Morning Joe co-host Mike Brzezinski blasted Donald Trump on Tuesday saying that the President “knows he messed up” by accusing former President Barack Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower.
“I have some reporting talking to a few people who are either close to the White House or inside it that the president actually knows he messed up and won’t admit it, just refuses to admit it,” she said.
“Everyone in that inner cadre … they’re so busy trying to either save their hides or get each others’ jobs that they don’t realize Rome is burning,” the ‘Morning Joe’ co-host added.
For his part, the President tweeted once again effectively saying ‘nothing to see here’ and that everything is going smoothly. “Don’t let the FAKE NEWS tell you that there is big infighting in the Trump Admin. We are getting along great, and getting major things done!”

A highly emotional Brzezinski on Monday argued that the Trump administration is pushing “an extremely dangerous agenda.”
“This is not funny,” she said as she fought back tears. “This is really bad.”
“Just for the record, we are all really nervous. So if people out there feel nervous, we do too. We don’t think this is funny. They are pushing a very dangerous agenda. An extremely dangerous one.”
On Saturday, in a series of early morning tweets, the President claimed that Obama had his “wires tapped” in Trump Tower, accusations he made without providing any evidence.
“Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my ‘wires tapped’ in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!” Trump tweeted.
“Is it legal for a sitting President to be “wire tapping” a race for president prior to an election? Turned down by court earlier. A NEW LOW!” he added in subsequent tweets.
“I’d bet a good lawyer could make a great case out of the fact that President Obama was tapping my phones in October, just prior to Election!”
A spokesperson for Obama categorically denied Trump’s claims later in the morning, stating that they were “simply false.”
“A cardinal rule of the Obama Administration was that no White House official ever interfered with any independent investigation led by the Department of Justice,” said Kevin Lewis, Obama’s spokesperson.
“As part of that practice, neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen,” he added. “Any suggestion otherwise is simply false.”
