On Monday morning, “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough blasted U.S. President Donald Trump for his accusations that former President Barack Obama wire tapped the phones at Trump Tower prior to the November election.
The MSNBC co-host asserted that the President’s unpredictable behavior has sent the country into “crisis.”
Similarly, just this past Sunday, Scarborough called Trump’s accusations “sick.” This carried through to the Monday edition of the show, where Scarborough also referenced the President’s recent address to Congress, saying that the “presidential” Trump that the media had praised is now gone.
The “Morning Joe” co-host explained,
“There was a belief that he [Trump] could turn the corner. What Donald Trump did on Saturday morning has shaken this government and the confidence of its people to the core. It is hard to overstate how reckless that tweet was. The 45th president of the United States accusing the 44th president of tapping his phones, personally tapping his phones, calling him sick.”
To which Mika Brzezinski interjected, saying “uncouth.”
Scarborough then continued, “for people comparing this to the birther controversy, context is necessary. It is one thing when a reality TV star accused a president of a sleazy conspiratorial theory. But when a president of the United States accuses another president, the context changes and it becomes dangerous.”
“We are in crisis,” he concluded.
