Schwarzenegger Blasts Gerrymandering: ‘Congress Couldn’t Beat Herpes’

Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger slammed gerrymandering, blaming it for a Congress that “couldn’t beat herpes in the polls.”

The former governor actually named a number of undesirable things that are “more popular than Congress, such as hemorrhoids, traffic jams, root canals, and ending his list with herpes.

Arnold placed the blame for much of the public distaste with Congress on the way districts are drawn and redrawn every ten years or so.

“Gerrymandering has created an absurd reality where politicians now pick their voters, instead of the voters picking their politicians,” the Terminator star says in a video that was released on media startup ATTN on Tuesday.

“You thought every two years in November, you’re going to the polls to pick your representatives, right? Wrong!” Schwarzenegger said.

“Using gerrymandering, our politicians drew their district lines so safely, that even while congressional approval ratings went sometimes down into the single digits, they couldn’t lose,” Arnold claims, adding that the state “fixed it” by taking redistricting away from the state legislature.

“We took the power of drawing the district lines away from the politicians and gave it back to the people, where it belongs,” The new Apprentice star said.

“We’ve proven that gerrymandering can be permanently terminated,” he said, not specifying how Congressional districts should be drawn in the alternative.

Schwarzenegger has had some well-publicized clashes with Donald Trump of late with Trump regularly blasting him for his purportedly low ratings as star of The Apprentice, and the Terminator star has made some very pointed attacks back on Trump’s White House performance.
