Fox host Sean Hannity suggested that the Hawaii federal judge that put a hold on Trump’s travel ban 2.0 may have shared marijuana and “a little blow” with former President Barack Obama.
Hannity also suggested that District Judge Derrick Watson should recuse himself as a result.
On his radio show Thursday, Hannity stated, “This judge who issued the travel ban ruling is an Obama law school classmate… Maybe he should have recused himself from the case. Just a maybe? Were they best friends in Hawaii? Were they part of the Choom Gang, smoking pot and hanging out and doing a little bit of weed and maybe even a little blow?”
Obama has openly admitted to smoking marijuana in his book Dreams of My Father.
The “Choom Gang” is a reference to a nickname that the former president and some of his friends in Hawaii called themselves.
However, there is no reason to believe that Judge Watson was a part of the “Choom Gang” and Hannity did not indicate any reason to believe so. He also didn’t indicate why such an affiliation would even be cause for recusal since the former president is not a party to the lawsuit over Trump’s newest travel ban.
