Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg is making political news with his latest video, released on Sunday, in which he aims a toy gun and takes a shot at a clown that resembles President Trump.
The video features a song focused on police brutality and depicts a world full of clowns, with the rapper in the end firing a toy gun at one which looks like Trump.
“This is the final call,” Snoop says before pointing a toy gun at the head of a clown who though he resembled Trump, was doing something not Trump: smoking a cigarette. The gun does not purport to dispense a bullet — it actually has a “bang” sign in front of it to depict the shooting.
In an interview with Billboard on Sunday, the rapper said “The whole world is clownin’ around. If you really look at some of these motherf–kers, they are clowns.”
“It’s a lot of clown sh-t going on that we could just sit and talk on the phone all day about,” Snoop Dogg added. “But it’s a few issues that we really wanted to lock into [for the video] police, the president and life in general.”
“I feel like it’s a lot of people making cool records, having fun, partying, but nobody’s dealing with the real issue with this f-cking clown as the president, and the sh-t that we dealing with out here, so I wanted to take time out to push pause on a party record and make one of these records for the time being,” the rapper, who endorsed Hillary Clinton in the presidential election, said.
On Tuesday, Donald Trump found time during his busy schedule to attack Snoop. In one of his signature early morning tweets, Trump, always quick to call himself the victim, claimed that had the rapper done a video in which he had taken a shot at President Obama — presumably during the Obama presidency, though it’s not completely clear — that the former president would have had him jailed. And on his way to making his claim, he took a typical shot at Snoop by referencing the rapper’s “failing career and all.”
Can you imagine what the outcry would be if @SnoopDogg, failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!
